The New York Yankees were one of the original OOSL teams in 1994. Their storied five year OOSL career record stands at 378-394 for a .490 Winning Percentage. They have been a CPU-controlled team for almost all of their 5 years in the OOSL American League -- they were owned briefly by Denis Telgemeier during the 1998-99 off-season. The Yankees have won one Divisional title, and have a post-season record of 3-4 for a .429 winning percentage. They have the dubious distinction of trading Babe Ruth off the team twice -- once under the direction of the Commissioner and once under Denis Telgemeier's ownership.

The New York Yankees were big underachievers by most accounts in 1998. Despite some nice yard work by The Bambino (51 HR to go with 140 RBI) and Negro Leaguer Mule Suttles (27, 104) the Bronx Bombers were undermined by inconsistent starting pitching and a tough season by closer Kent Tekulve (12 blown saves, 5.04 ERA). Lon Warneke was traded out of town after his 12-14, 5.03 showing and the mantle of Staff Ace now belongs to Spud Chandler. Although The Babe has departed once again, NY looks to return to excellence behind the play of such OOSL stars as Mule Suttles and Joe Cronin.
