The Boston Red Sox are a computer-controlled club.

These Boston Red Sox were one of the original franchises of 1994. They have been captained by Adam Janis from 1994 through 1998. They begin the 1999 season under computer control for the first time. Their five-year American League career record stands at 426-344 for a .553 winning percentage -- tied for third-best in OOSL history. They are 16-20 in post-season play, for a .444 winning percentage. They own four Division titles and one League title. Their best season saw them win 96 regular season games.

The Iron Horse is the heart and soul of the OOSL American League Boston franchise. There is no doubt on that count, just as there is no doubt that he is the premier slugger in the American League. Gehrig holds the OOSL records (including both leagues) for Runs Scored (604), RBI (630), Home Runs (247) and Total Bases (1845). Lou has also topped the 50 homer mark three times - more than anyone else in American League history (the Babe also has 3-50 homer years under his belt, but that includes NL play). In 1994 Lou teamed with Earl Averill and Ted Williams to form a killer triumvirate of sluggers that led the team to an AL record 797 runs scored. That year Lou took home Player of the Year honors - his first of three, and one of four by Boston alums (Ted Williams copped the other in 1994). Cool Papa Bell provided some thrills of a different kind when he made a run at being the first OOSL player to top the century mark in stolen bases last season. Bell ended with 98, but no one in Bean Town is complaining. The Red Sox appear poised to contend again in 1999, and they should remain a contender as long as Lou keeps on suiting up - and of course he hasn't missed a game yet!
